Streaming Quarterbacks: Week 12 Targets
Week 11 was a down one for QBs and offenses across the board, with fantasy totals coming in lower than most weeks. Jameis Winston, however, had a massive fantasy week, throwing for 5 TDs and nearly 250 yards. Our QBs came in around the middle of the pack, scoring as mid-to-high QB2s this week. Not too bad, considering you could have gotten any of them for free. As always, our primary goal is avoiding the absolute busts, while shooting for upside.
For the year, our optimal streaming QB is averaging 16.4 points per game, and overall our streaming QBs are averaging 16.6 points per game. Our streamers continue to hold steady at a pace around QB17, finishing inside the top ten in half their games.
Now, on to Week 12. As always, our primary focus will be on each quarterback’s fantasy points per attempt, because of how well that correlates with fantasy production, and on aFPA for the defenses they face. We will continue to use 60% ownership as our threshold, meaning that our streamers must be available in at least 40% of leagues, before waivers run for the week.
Week 12 QB Streaming Targets
Brian Hoyer (HOU) vs. New Orleans Saints
As we saw two weeks ago, when Kirk Cousins transformed into a streamer’s dream, the New Orleans Saints are a defense to target. The defense to target. The Saints are ranked 32nd in aFPA to opposing QBs. Vegas projects the Texans to score very well this week.
Brian Hoyer is averaging 0.51 fantasy points per pass attempt, ranking him 14th in the league. Particularly now that the team has a renewed sense of urgency with playoffs on the horizon, Hoyer is a very viable streaming QB. Putting the two together is enough to give me my top streaming option this week.
Hoyer is available in 90% of Yahoo public leagues, and he is my optimal streamer of the week.
