Week 10 Injury Report: Jonesing for Healthy Players

Aaron Rodgers, QB New York Jets

Injury: Concussion Screening

Projected Timetable: Week 11

Initial Thoughts:

Rodgers cleared concussion screening and returned to the game.

Aaron Jones, RB Minnesota Vikings

Injury: Ribs

Projected Timetable: Week 11

Initial Thoughts:

Jones took a hard hit to the right side of his chest/ribs and was in noticeable pain, though was able to return. X-rays were negative and soon after he returned to the game, but this will likely become more painful post-game. Monitor his status throughout the week, but there's a chance that this will lead to a production dip for 2-3 weeks until he's fully healed.

Tank Bigsby, RB Jacksonville Jaguars

Injury: Ankle Reinjury

Projected Timetable: Week 12-14

Initial Thoughts:

Bigsby was knocked out of the game after suffering an ankle reinjury, which will likely cost him one to multiple games in order to heal back to 100%. Monitor his practice status but be prepared to be without him for week 11.

Isiah Pacheco, RB Kansas City Chiefs

Injury: Right Fibula Surgery

Projected Timetable: Week 12-13

Initial Thoughts:

Pacheco is another back who has been making good strides in his recovery. By all accounts, he is set to begin practicing either week 11 or week 12, which means he could be contributing for us come fantasy playoffs. That obviously comes with risk in terms of inserting him right into your lineup during pivotal weeks, but his return will likely come at a good time as Kareem Hunt has been getting worn down, per Andy Reid.

Chuba Hubbard, RB Carolina Panthers

Injury: Left Knee Sprain

Projected Timetable: Week 12

Initial Thoughts:

After the game, Hubbard stated that his knee dislocates occasionally. He likely means that his patella subluxes at times, because he would not be able to continue playing with true knee/ligament instability and if a true dislocation occurred on multiple occasions, he would be in more pain and at significant risk of cartilage damage. Thankfully Carolina has a bye week to allow him to rest and fully recover, especially with Miles Sanders possibly looking at a significant ankle/foot injury. Brooks will debut after the bye week too.

Jonathon Brooks, RB Carolina Panthers

Injury: ACLR

Projected Timetable: Week 12

Initial Thoughts:

Brooks is set to make his debut in week 10, with Dave Canales stating that they plan on activating him officially by the Tuesday deadline (21-day window). He will unlikely be fantasy-relevant right out of the gate, but at least we get an early look at his utilization and production leading up to key weeks for playoff pushes and matchups. Carolina has a week 11 bye.

Najee Harris, RB Pittsburgh Steelers

Injury: Right Knee, Ankle

Projected Timetable: Week 11-12

Initial Thoughts:

Harris returned to the field after being in noticeable pain and initially being unable to bear weight after getting caught up in a pile of defenders. There was an angle that appeared to show a possible high ankle mechanism, but there honestly wasn't much there torque-wise and he was also seen grasping at his knee before standing up and then collapsing back down to the ground. Monitor his practice status, but it was a good sign that he returned to the game and kept playing.

Saquon Barkley, RB Philadelphia Eagles

Injury: Left Wrist/Hand

Projected Timetable: Week 11

Initial Thoughts:

He was able to return to the game after having his left hand/wrist taped up. He was reaching a ball on the ground and the defender rolled over his wrist, likely spraining it during the play. He will likely show up on the injury report, but I do not expect this to cost him playing time moving forward.

Malik Nabers, WR New York Giants

Injury: Concussion Screening

Projected Timetable: Week 12

Initial Thoughts:

Nabers had his helmet slam into the turf and was pulled off for a concussion screening. Thankfully he cleared the screen and was able to return to the game, but we'll have to watch this one closely considering he recently suffered a concussion that cost him two weeks. Sometimes these cases develop symptoms the following day or even post-game. The Giants have a week 11 bye, so this likely will not be an issue.

Xavier Worthy, WR Kansas City Chiefs

Injury: Right Shoulder

Projected Timetable: Week 11

Initial Thoughts:

Worthy landed hard with his right arm outstretched after a Mahomes overthrow, and was spotted getting worked on by the trainers. The mechanism likely led to an AC sprain or possible shoulder sprain/labral irritation, but he was able to continue playing. This is likely mild and I do not expect it to cost him playing time.

Dalton Kincaid, TE Buffalo Bills

Injury: Left Knee

Projected Timetable: Week 11-13

Initial Thoughts:

By video, it appeared to be a possible PCL sprain or bursa irritation mechanism, very similar to Puka Nacua's injury. He out-stretched for a deep pass that was over his head and wound up slamming his left knee directly into the turf. He did return for a few snaps with a hinge brace on his knee, indicating that it is more likely a ligament injury, but was fairly ineffective and eventually ruled out for the remainder of the game. This one could cost him next week, especially with a week 12 bye coming up.

Sam LaPorta, TE Detroit Lions

Injury: Shoulder Sprain

Projected Timetable: Day to Day

Initial Thoughts:

LaPorta has been deemed questionable to return with a shoulder injury. I have not seen a video of the injury yet but hopefully, it is minor. Update: he has been labeled as Day to Day by Dan Campbell.

TJ Hockenson, TE Minnesota Vikings

Injury: No Injury, Just Rejoicing

Projected Timetable:

Initial Thoughts:

In his second game off of ACLR, he led the Vikings with 9 targets (tied with Jefferson), 8 receptions, and 72 yards. He is Darnold's safety valve and it is glorious. I did not anticipate this production until closer to week 12, so rejoice that we are getting it slightly early. Locked in TE1.
