The Lions are placing WR Kalif Raymond on Injured Reserve, source says, because of the foot injury he suffered last Sunday.

He's expected to return and could play again before the regular season finishes. Either way, he's almost certainly back for the playoffs.

We shouldn't expect too much of a boost for St. Brown/Williams here, but Tim Patrick should get some extra run as the team's WR3, which should get him 4-5 targets per game. That's not enough to put him on fantasy radars.

Well, it's been fun while it's lasted, but Williams once again finds himself on the sideline for off-the-field issues. Patrick and/or Raymond profile as interesting desperation Flexes over the next two weeks.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is facing a suspension. Again.

Williams is reportedly set to be suspended for two games for violating the NFL's Performance-Enhancing Substances policy, according to ESPN's Eric Woodyward.

Williams was also suspended for six games at the start of the 2023 season for violating the league's gambling policy when he made bets on sports at the Lions' facility, but not on the NFL, but the suspension was eventually reduced when the NFL changed its policy. He missed the first four games of the season, the story went on to say. With Williams out, Raymond, Williams and Patrick all move up the depth chart, but the Lions could end up giving more targets to TE LaPorta and RB Gibbs.

The Broncos couldn’t trade receiver Tim Patrick, so they cut him. It didn’t take him long to find a new home.

Patrick is joining the Lions’ practice squad, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Patrick has missed the past two seasons with injuries, tearing an ACL in training camp in 2022 and tearing an Achilles’ tendon in camp in 2023. Through this preseason, Patrick was back in action and had five catches for 44 yards and a TD. If Patrick is truly back to form, one could see him eventually taking over as the team's WR3 behind St. Brown and Williams.

Speaking of Josh Reynolds’ departure, Jameson Williams isn’t the only option to make up for his production. Antoine Green, a 2023 seventh-round pick, has good speed, and the Lions liked how he developed to end the season. He spent time repping with the first-team offense this spring.

The Lions look as if they will be rotating bodies behind Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown, but Green is an interesting name to bank for super deep leagues. Green had all of two targets last season but made a splash in the team's final 2023 preseason game when he took a 70-yard catch to the house en route to a 3-97-1 stat line.

The Lions have a deal for one of the top young talents. They agreed on an extension for WR Amon-Ra St. Brown. He gets four years and more than $120M, with $77M guaranteed.

Good move for the Lions, who lock in their No. 1 pass-catching option. They will still likely address the position in the NFL Draft, but that shouldn't impact St. Brown.

Peoples-Jones is just 24 but one can argue moves to a team with a more crowded receiver room than the one he came from. DPJ was the Browns WR3 but hasn't had nearly the impact he had in 2022. It would be tough to see DPJ having that impact on the Lions, however, one can argue there isn't much consistency behind St. Brown. DPJ will at least bring some size to the Lions and could possibly carve out a role in the red zone. As far as Cleveland goes, it could mean the rookie Tillman or Goodwin eventually see more snaps as the team's WR3.

Help is on the way, in a sense, with Jameson Williams returning from his suspension, but it's hard to believe he's up-to-speed after missing so much of the preseason. Josh Reynolds could get a boost in workload if St. Brown misses, as he's been on the field on 114 of Jared Goff's 138 2023 dropbacks (82.6%).

As a result of gambling policy changes, Titans’ OT Nick Petit-Frere and Lions’ WR Jameson Williams will be reinstated effective on Monday. They each had served four-game suspensions for violations of the league’s gambling policy.

Williams could be eased back into action as he has hardly played with his offense since being taken in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but he is a great target for your inevitable playoff run. Reynolds, Jones, and Raymond will presumably all get majorly knocked down one or two pegs of usage when the sophomore wideout returns.

Head coach Dan Campbell added that WR Amon-Ra St. Brown will likely be back on the field between Monday-Friday of next week after a small ankle injury suffered yesterday.

It doesn't seem to be anything to be concerned about, but we'll keep an eye on it. The wide receiver depth chart looks iffy, with Jameson Williams suspended until October and now nursing a hamstring injury that will keep him out of the rest of the preseason. Rookie tight end Sam LaPorta may be a bigger part of this offense than most were expecting.
