Team news: Tennessee Titans

The Titans ruled running back Tony Pollard out for Week 17 against the Jaguars with an ankle injury and an illness.

Originally listed as questionable, Pollard now will not travel with the team. This sets Tyjae Spears up for a bigger workload Sunday in a very favorable matchup against the Jaguars leaky run defense. Spears can be viewed as a RB2 with RB1 upside.

The Tennessee Titans are planning to make a switch at quarterback this week, source told ESPN.

It seems as if there is no official word on just who will take over yet, but as the post points out, Rudolph is the logical candidate to step in. Rudolph has twice come in for Levis this season, once when injured and this past week when Levis threw three INTs. Rudolph did threw for two TDs as he tried to lead the team back against the Bengals. The Titans travel to Indy in Week 16 in a game in the early window. Rudolph did flash at times earlier this season as well, but the Titans moved back to Levis once he was healthy. Rudolph is probably a better option for deeper two QB or superflex leagues.

The Titans pulled Will Levis on Sunday and coach Brian Callahan said he's going to use the next few days to decide who his starting QB will be.

Levis threw three INTs in the game and was 8 for 12 for 89 yards. It was a great matchup for Levis who was going against a Bengals defense that hasn't always performed well this season. Rudolph came in and threw for 209 and two TDs as the Titans tried to rally to a win.

Titans HC Brian Callahan said WR Treylon Burks underwent surgery on his torn ACL and he will be out for the season.

Burks never could find a holding in the starting lineup, with or without DeAndre Hopkins on the team. It's been a disappointing first three seasons for the former first-round rookie, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he looks for a fresh start as we head into 2025.

Cam Jones is questionable for tomorrow's Black Friday game against the Raiders. Spencer Shrader is out.

Spencer Shrader, already filling in for the injured Harrison Butker, is set to miss Tuesday’s practice with a hamstring injury.

That’s part of why the club signed Matthew Wright to its practice squad.

The Chiefs play on Friday against the Raiders so it's a situation to monitor if you were counting on Shrader this week. Shrader has made 3-of-3 field goals and 6-of-6 extra points in the last two games, the story pointed out.

Sunday’s win over the Texans was Tennessee’s first since quarterback Will Levis returned from a right shoulder injury and it continued a run of improved play for the second-year player.

Levis was 18-of-24 for 274 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the 32-27 win and he’s thrown for 748 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions in the last three weeks.

Callahan said, via the team’s website, “But I’ve just been really happy with the way Will has progressed. He’s played winning football from that position, really over the last three weeks, and I’d like to see it continue.”

The story said Callahan was also asked if that kind of performance will make Levis the long-term answer at the position, "I hesitate to make any proclamations or anything like that." The Titans are likely just taking it a week at a time with Levis, but seem pleased with the steps he's made since the start of the season and especially since he's come back from his shoulder injury. Levis has at least been a decent QB2 option for multi-QB and superflex leagues.

Spears was back in action in Week 10 and essentially split the work with seven carries and a team-high 47 yards rushing with three catches for four yards. Pollard out-touched Spears 13-10 in the game. This past week Spears exited early but the running game was held in check. If Spears can't play in Week 12, Pollard would likely lead the way, but it would be a tough matchup against the Texans.

Titans QB Will Levis will return to the starting lineup Sunday against the Chargers, coach Brian Callahan said.

Levis returns to the field, but he'll do so without DeAndre Hopkins to throw it to. Levis should not be started here in Week 10.

Mason Rudolph has started the last three games while Will Levis recovers from a right shoulder injury, but Callahan has said that Levis will still be the starter once he is healthy enough to play. Callahan reiterated that at his Monday press conference and said that he expects Levis to do more work at practice in the coming days ahead of a possible return to action against the Chargers.

“I’m hopeful this is the week,” Callahan said.

Rudolph was 20-of-33 for 240 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in Sunday’s overtime win over the Patriots. He’s 67-of-111 for 721 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions in his three starts will Levis out. The Titans will visit the Chargers in a later Sunday game in Week 10.
