Fantasy Football Quarterback Streaming Week 5: Sam Howell Finds His Footing

The quarterback landscape in Week 4 can be described as a resurgence for rush-happy quarterbacks, as every single quarterback in fantasy’s top five of scoring was among the best rushing threats in the league. Joshua Dobbs, fantasy’s QB6, also accrued 48 yards on the ground, proving that a rushing floor can really bolster just about anyone to a promising fantasy start.

While Josh Allen, Anthony Richardson, Lamar Jackson, Justin Fields, and Jalen Hurts are nowhere near the waiver wire, we can still look for positive matchups that can duplicate the kind of success we just saw from each of them.

For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season progresses and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.

Week 4 Recap

I was excited to play Andy Dalton last week against the Minnesota Vikings defense, but Bryce Young would surprisingly be cleared to play, and he delivered a QB26 week, despite completing 78.1% of his passes. This was because Young attempted 11 passes behind the line of scrimmage and finished the game with a horrendous 3.9 average depth of target (aDOT) on the day. As long as the team is afraid to let him push the ball down the field, and his general un-reliance on his legs, he can’t be considered in fantasy football.

Outside of that, we had a productive week, nailing two different QB1s, and we’ve now seen C.J. Stroud graduate over our 40% streaming limit. Let’s duplicate that success this week.
