Recap Week 4: 13 Things You Need To Know

Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season brought numerous storylines to the table. We saw some things that we have seen before but we also saw a number of things we had not. Stefon Diggs scored his first career rushing touchdown. Sam Darnold has thrown for two or more touchdowns in each of his four games this year. Chase Brown reached the end zone twice. Jordan Addison returned and notched a couple of first-half touchdowns and we saw Ja'Marr Chase do Ja'Marr Chase things, like breaking two tackles before racing to a 63-yard score. We even learned interesting tidbits like Bo Nix being tied for the shortest name in NFL history with Al Day and Ty Law. Now, it is time to talk about what mattered to fantasy managers.

Top Players

Jordan Love was a welcome sight at Lambeau Field on Sunday. After sitting out the prior two weeks, the Packers starting quarterback returned to the field with a huge day. He attempted an eye-popping 54 passes, completing 32 of them for 389 yards and four scores. He was intercepted three times and had a single rushing attempt for six yards.

Nico Collins cannot be stopped. He posted his third 100-yard game of the season. This time he did it by snagging a dozen balls to set a new career high. He totaled 151 yards and a touchdown.

Jayden Reed may have been the happiest to see Love return. Reed caught seven passes for 139 yards and a receiving score. In Week 1, he posted similar numbers but he totaled just 59 yards and no scores in two games with Malik Willis under center.

Baker Mayfield put together his second multiple-touchdown performance of the year. With a season-high 347 passing yards, Mayfield led his team to victory for a third time in four games. He tossed two touchdowns and ran for a third as the Buccaneers defeated Philadelphia.

Derrick Henry is still the king. He began his Sunday night by breaking off the longest run in Ravens’ history on Baltimore’s first play from scrimmage. The veteran back dashed through a massive hole to carry the ball 87 yards to the end zone. That was only the beginning as he went on to carry for 196 yards and catch two passes for nine yards and another score.

Pop Players

Justin Fields nearly led a major comeback for the Pittsburgh Steelers in a game where Pittsburgh trailed 17-0 in the first half, Fields had a big second-half performance. He had two rushing scores before throwing a touchdown to Pat Freiermuth. Fields recorded 312 yards passing and 55 more on the ground to go along with his trio of touchdowns.

D'Andre Swift had his biggest game as a Chicago Bear. He scampered for a 36-yard fourth-quarter touchdown to extend Chicago’s lead. Swift carried 16 times for 93 yards while catching all seven of his targets for 72 yards.

Jordan Mason is filling in nicely for Christian McCaffrey. While there is no substitute for one of the league’s best players, Mason is finding a way to get the job done. Against New England, he ran for 123 yards and a touchdown while adding 37 yards on a pair of receptions.

Flop Players

Kyle Pitts no-showed again. In what has become an unfortunate familiar frustration for fantasy fanatics, the highly touted tight end failed to deliver again. He was targeted three times on the day and made no catches. Managers who drafted Pitts are left doubting their decision-making.

Zay Flowers was not in on the fun for Baltimore on Sunday night. On an evening where it seemed everything went right for the Ravens on offense, their top wide receiver was silenced by Buffalo. He saw two targets in the game but caught just one for 10 yards. It was a discouraging affair for the second-year player

Drop Players?

Anthony Richardson exited the Colts’ victory over Pittsburgh in the first quarter. He walked directly to the locker room for evaluation. He was later ruled out with a hip injury.

Taysom Hill left the game against Atlanta with an apparent rib injury after he scored two touchdowns. He was clutching at his chest on the field and sideline. He missed last week’s contest due to a chest injury.

Rashee Rice was carted to the locker room in the first quarter of the Chiefs’ contest with the Chargers. The team reported it as a knee injury. He will undergo an MRI on Monday.
