Guillotine League Week 7 Waiver Wire Options & FAAB Breakdown
Welcome to the Week 7 guillotine column, where I go through the top players from the teams that got axed last week, focusing on the waiver wire and FAAB strategies.
Bye weeks keep rolling this week so you’ll be without the services of any Bears or Cowboys this week. It’s a great time to evaluate your team and see where you stand. If you've been mostly at the top without any new catastrophic injuries, you can still be on the conservative side but if you’re barely hanging on, the purse strings should be opened a bit more.
Remember that bye weeks are temporary so do your best to solve issues in the most inexpensive way possible rather than blow your whole FAAB on the biggest name out there, unless you truly need them.
Before I get into Week 7, here’s some pertinent information on guillotine leagues.
How it works:
- Set up and draft your team just like traditional fantasy football
- Each week the lowest-scoring team gets eliminated
- All of the players from the eliminated team become free agents
- A weekly FAAB bidding war starts among the remaining teams
- Survive the chop and be crowned champion
Because it's a survivor-style format, you can start leagues any week of the season for as long as you want!
Thanks to mostly injury and one bye (looking at you Justin Jefferson), some pretty big names landed among the most chopped in Week 6.
Here are the top 10 players chopped across all positions and the percentage of leagues where they were axed.
Team | Position | Player | Chopped% |
---|---|---|---|
ARI | WR | Marvin Harrison Jr. | 18.30% |
DAL | QB | Dak Prescott | 18.10% |
PHI | TE | Dallas Goedert | 16.40% |
NO | WR | Chris Olave | 15.60% |
CIN | RB | Zack Moss | 15.30% |
BUF | RB | James Cook | 14.10% |
MIN | WR | Justin Jefferson | 13.80% |
JAC | RB | Travis Etienne | 13.20% |
WAS | RB | Brian Robinson | 13.20% |
Quarterbacks
Only five QBs were among the top 50 players chopped in Week 6.
Team | Position | Player | Chopped% |
---|---|---|---|
DAL | QB | Dak Prescott | 18.10% |
ARI | QB | Kyler Murray | 13.10% |
BAL | QB | Lamar Jackson | 9.90% |
KC | QB | Patrick Mahomes | 9.00% |
HOU | QB | C.J. Stroud | 8.80% |
Dak Prescott was axed at the highest rate at his position last week and should remain on waivers unless there are some serious QB hoarders in your league. At this point in the season, we’re down to 12 teams and Prescott is currently QB17 in fantasy points per game. Your QB is likely good enough to have gotten you here and if not, another one will be along soon. If you really want him, bid a buck or two but that’s it.
Patrick Mahomes, Kyler Murray, and C.J. Stroud all have their warts from a fantasy perspective and should be bid on with caution. Yes, even Mahomes.
Lamar Jackson is the only QB out of this bunch that I would spend any real FAAB on since he has the ability to change the course of your team. He’s as consistent as they come QB-wise, however, his one caveat is that late Week 14 bye, but in this format you’ll be able to get another one by then. He’s worth at least $75 but you may have to go to $100.
Standard Waiver QBs
- Drake Maye (89.1% available) - $5
Running Backs
Within the Top 50 most chopped players, 20 of them were RBs in Week 6, up from 15 last week.
Team | Position | Player | Chopped% |
---|---|---|---|
CIN | RB | Zack Moss | 15.30% |
BUF | RB | James Cook | 14.10% |
JAC | RB | Travis Etienne | 13.20% |
WAS | RB | Brian Robinson | 13.20% |
ARI | RB | James Conner | 12.80% |
PHI | RB | Saquon Barkley | 12.10% |
SF | RB | Jordan Mason | 11.80% |
IND | RB | Jonathan Taylor | 11.80% |
LAR | RB | Kyren Williams | 11.50% |
MIN | RB | Aaron Jones | 11.20% |
NE | RB | Rhamondre Stevenson | 10.70% |
CLE | RB | Jerome Ford | 10.30% |
TB | RB | Rachaad White | 10.20% |
MIA | RB | De'Von Achane | 9.20% |
DEN | RB | Javonte Williams | 9.10% |
SF | RB | Christian McCaffrey | 9.10% |
BAL | RB | Justice Hill | 8.90% |
DET | RB | Jahmyr Gibbs | 8.90% |
NYG | RB | Devin Singletary | 8.90% |
TEN | RB | Tyjae Spears | 8.80% |
Zack Moss started 2024 strong but injury and a case of fumbleitis landed him as the most chopped RB last week. Chase Brown wasn’t highly impressive and coughed up the ball himself, so this backfield will likely remain a frustrating committee. You can probably get him fairly cheap right now somewhere in the $25-35 range.
Turf toe is no joke, particularly for RBs, so James Cook is a tougher one to navigate. The Bills also let Ray Davis out of that proverbial toothpaste tube so he’ll likely give up some volume to the rookie upon return. Cook is worth rostering but don’t go over $45.
Travis Etienne was the third-highest-chopped rusher last week. He was already at risk of extinction before his shoulder injury as he’d seen a decline in snaps for three straight contests. The Jaguars are struggling as a whole and playing from behind doesn’t help his cause. We should see a healthy mix of Tank Bigsby and D'Ernest Johnson moving forward so Etienne isn’t worth more than a single-digit bid.
Sidelined last week with a knee injury, Brian Robinson was axed at a 13.2% rate but has been playing well and is currently the RB17 in PPR scoring on a per-game basis. The Commanders' RB is worth $125-150 of your remaining FAAB.
Saquon Barkley was on 12.1% of chopped teams and should be a priority for those of you who need RB help. Currently the overall RB3 and RB4 in per-content scoring, he has a revenge game this week against the Giants and then a pretty soft schedule for the next five weeks. Plus, Barkley already had his bye which is an added bonus. It’s going to take at least $250 to secure the Philly RB but maybe more if your league is spendy.
Standard Waiver RBs
- Tyler Allgeier (39.4% available) $20
- Ray Davis (66.9% available) $20
- Kimani Vidal (88.4% available) $15
- Isaac Guerendo (95.5% available) $10
- Sean Tucker (99.3% available) $15
Wide Receivers
Twenty WRs were among the 50 most chopped players after the Week 6 games finished.
Team | Position | Player | Chopped% |
---|---|---|---|
ARI | WR | Marvin Harrison Jr. | 18.30% |
NO | WR | Chris Olave | 15.60% |
MIN | WR | Justin Jefferson | 13.80% |
TB | WR | Mike Evans | 13.20% |
CHI | WR | D.J. Moore | 12.20% |
HOU | WR | Nico Collins | 12.00% |
SEA | WR | DK Metcalf | 11.90% |
SF | WR | Brandon Aiyuk | 11.80% |
NO | WR | Rashid Shaheed | 11.40% |
NYG | WR | Malik Nabers | 11.40% |
CIN | WR | Ja'Marr Chase | 11.00% |
MIA | WR | Tyreek Hill | 10.80% |
JAC | WR | Brian Thomas Jr. | 10.60% |
PIT | WR | George Pickens | 9.40% |
IND | WR | Alec Pierce | 9.30% |
DET | WR | Amon-Ra St. Brown | 9.10% |
KC | WR | Xavier Worthy | 9.10% |
TEN | WR | Calvin Ridley | 9.00% |
LV | WR | Davante Adams | 8.80% |
DAL | WR | CeeDee Lamb | 8.70% |
Marvin Harrison Jr. was the highest-chopped player at all positions last week (18.3%). He suffered a concussion on Sunday and the Cardinals have an extra day for him to clear which could help the rookie. However, he’s been very inconsistent this season which is brutal in this particular format. If you still believe throw down a bid of $50 but it should be more like $15 at this point.
Another concussion sufferer, Chris Olave, is doubtful to clear protocol by his TNF contest against Denver. His usage has been a bit puzzling with just 4.8 targets per contest and a 66% snap count behind Rashid Shaheed. The talent is there so he is worth a bid, but make it in the $20 to $25 range.
The big purse opener this week is Justin Jefferson who was likely so heavily chopped due to his Week 6 off week. He’s an elite talent with a huge volume and has already gotten his bye week out of the way. Jefferson’s 19.0 PPR points per contest will serve you well moving forward, he should garner a $300 bid at minimum.
Mike Evans left last week’s game for a short period of time with an undisclosed injury but was able to return to post just 34 yards on two receptions. He has five touchdowns on the year but is sporadic in yardage and catches which is not normal for Mr. Consistency. Chris Godwin has out-targeted him 53 to 42 and seems to be Baker Mayfield’s go-to WR in 2024. A date with Baltimore is next and they are 31st in the NFL in schedule-adjusted fantasy points to opposing WRs, so he’s worth a start this week and $50 to $65 of your remaining FAAB.
Standard Waiver WRs
- JuJu Smith-Schuster (53.3% available) - $3
- Demario Douglas (66.4% available) - $3
- Christian Watson (71.% available) - $3
Tight Ends
There were five TEs among the 50 most chopped players last week which is the exact same as last week’s axed at the position.
Team | Position | Player | Chopped% |
---|---|---|---|
PHI | TE | Dallas Goedert | 16.40% |
DAL | TE | Jake Ferguson | 13.10% |
KC | TE | Travis Kelce | 10.40% |
PIT | TE | Pat Freiermuth | 10.00% |
GB | TE | Tucker Kraft | 9.80% |
Dallas Goedert suffered a hamstring injury last week after two straight heaters. Hammys are a slower recovery than some other injuries so for now let’s assume he’s out this week. The Philly TE is still worth pursuing long term as the Eagles are past their bye and he could suit up this week, but make that bid less than $20.
Things have picked up for Travis Kelce after a slow burn the first three weeks. He’s posted a total of 16 receptions for 159 yards in his last two games and is now back from the Chiefs bye. Kelce should remain a huge focus of this offense and if you want to lock down that TE position, put in a bid of $75, but resist the urge to overspend with double-digit weeks remaining in the season.
Tucker Kraft returned to earth in Week 6 but should still be a viable weekly starter in a shallow position. The Green Bay TE should command around $7-10.
Standard Waiver TEs
- T.J. Hockenson (34.9% available) $5
- Cade Otton (54.4% available) $1
- Grant Calcaterra (100% available) $1
