Vikings WR Adam Thielen didn't practice on Tuesday while RB Dalvin Cook was limited.

Cook, of course, is dealing with a shoulder injury. He was listed as DNP Monday so this is a potential trend in the right direction for Thursday's game with Pittsburgh, but owners probably shouldn't get hopes up just yet. If Cook can't go, it would mean an RB1-type workload for Mattison. Meanwhile, Thielen didn't practice for the second-straight day meaning his status continues to not look good on the short week as he's dealing with his ankle injury. Reports say he's not expected to play, so it should be another big day for Justin Jefferson with Conklin and Osborn also getting more looks.

Minnesota’s Monday injury report was an estimate, but running back Dalvin Cook is again listed as a non-participant with his shoulder injury. Cook’s shoulder issue kept him out of Sunday’s game.

And after suffering an ankle injury early in Sunday’s contest, receiver Adam Thielen wouldn’t have practiced either.

The Vikings host the Steelers in a key game for both teams on Thursday night. Mattison will get the start at RB if Cook can't play while Justin Jefferson had a huge day in Week 13 when Thielen left the game.

Cook was expected to miss this week, so no surprise here.

The Vikings play on Sunday in Detroit, and return home for a Thursday game against the Steelers four days later. Given the timing of Dalvin Cook's injury, he could miss both games before the Vikings travel to Chicago for a Monday night game on Dec. 20.

Reports have been all over the place today, but the Star Tribune speculates Cook could miss the next two games because of the timing of a short week in Week 14. The story says Cook dislocated his left shoulder on a third-quarter fumble during Sunday's loss to the 49ers and that Cook tore the labrum in his left shoulder, as first reported by NFL Network. We also reported today that HC Mike Zimmer said Cook doesn't have a labrum tear and is day-to-day. "That's what they're telling me," Zimmer said as far as the day-to-day status. While the team isn't saying much, those who cover the Vikings seem to be on the same page also appear to agree Cook is going to miss some time.

There was a lot of news on Cook today. Ian Rapoport was among those to report Cook dislocated his shoulder and caused a torn labrum in Week 12 against the 49ers. He also reported Cook has been playing with a torn labrum in his other shoulder. While much of what Zimmer said was evasive, one thing to note that he did say was Cook doesn't have a torn labrum. We'll continue to update Cook's status, but in the meantime, pick up Mattison if he's on your wire.

Rapoport reported earlier that Cook was already playing with a torn labrum in his other shoulder. The good news, according to the tweet, is the ailment is not season-ending. The hope is this is like 2019, when the team rests Cook a few games to have him healthy for a playoff run. If that's the case, Mattison will take over as the team's RB1 for any games Cook misses. If he's somehow made it back to your waiver wire, Mattison is a must-add.

Cook will get an MRI on his recently injured shoulder to see what kind of damage, if any, the dislocated shoulder caused. Rapoport said he's been playing with a torn labrum on the other side. But dislocated shoulders can often cause damage to the labrum, according to the video, so he could be dealing with issues to both shoulders at this point. Mattison is a must-own as a handcuff for Cook and will get a bulk of the time if Cook is out again.

The Vikings will have RB Dalvin Cook and WRs Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen Week 6 as none of the trio carries an injury designation.

All three being left off the injury report goes a long way with a road game against a good Carolina Panthers defense.
