Jordan Love is the Quarterback You Need for Fantasy Football in 2024
The Beatles said it best: All You Need is Love. After a breakout 2023 campaign, Packers quarterback Jordan Love is my favorite player at the position in fantasy football this season. Currently drafted as the QB10 and 98th overall according to Underdog ADP (86th overall in our multi-site ADP), I believe that Love has the potential to vastly outperform his draft spot and cement himself as one of the premier quarterbacks in both fantasy football and the NFL. Here’s a look at why Love is the quarterback you want in 2024.

2023 Season in Review
Love had no trouble filling in Aaron Rodgers’ shoes in his first year as the starter in Green Bay. After a slow start to the season, Love led the Packers to a 6-2 record down the stretch to secure a playoff berth. In the playoffs, he continued to show out, dominating the heavily favored Cowboys in the Wild Card round and nearly beating the conference champion 49ers in the Divisional. His counting stats were equally impressive: 4,159 passing yards and 32 touchdowns, good for an overall QB5 finish in fantasy.
A slept-on component of Love’s game is his mobility. Although he might not be a dual-threat phenom like Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen, he can certainly move around on his legs. Love ran for 247 yards and four touchdowns last season, which isn’t world-breaking but still helpful — the extra two points per week he gets on the ground essentially negate a turnover he has. All in all, Love’s 2023 season showed me that he has what it takes to be a fantasy star.
The Packers Offense in 2024
The Packers have a great supporting cast around Love, which makes me even more excited about his upside. Even though the Packers might not have a true number-one receiver like Justin Jefferson or CeeDee Lamb, they have an army of elite role players at receiver who are greater than the sum of their parts. Between Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks, Love will have no shortage of young, explosive wideouts to throw to — Reed and Wicks both finished top 30 in yards per route run (YPRR) as rookies last season, while Watson was 11th in YPRR in his rookie year in 2022. Long story short, even though the Packers receivers might not be individually excellent for fantasy because of their “wide receiver by committee” approach, they will still be more than able to support Love to fantasy excellence.
The Packers also made an upgrade at running back this off-season, swapping veteran Aaron Jones out with Josh Jacobs, which bodes well for their overall offensive ceiling. They added offensive tackle Jordan Morgan to an already solid offensive line in the first round of the draft as well. After a top 5 finish in offensive EPA per play last season, there’s no reason to believe the Packers won’t be an elite offensive unit again this year.
Assessing Love’s Floor and Ceiling
Altogether, I have a hard time finding a reason against picking Love this year. He might not have overall QB1 upside like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, or even someone like Anthony Richardson, but that is more than baked into his draft price. Love’s passing upside and rushing stability should make him one of the more consistent week-to-week players in fantasy — I can’t imagine him finishing outside the top 12 at the position barring injury. On the flip side, if Love plays to his full potential, he could be a legitimate MVP candidate for a Packers team that is expected to take a leap — Love is tied for the fifth-best odds to win the MVP this year according to FanDuel. Love will play in a very competitive division this season: the Lions, Vikings, and Bears have similarly exciting offenses to the Packers. This means that Love could be in for a lot of high-scoring shootouts, which is perfect for his fantasy upside.
Looking at Love’s draft spot compared to the quarterbacks going around him, he jumps out as a potential steal. I would much rather take Love in the seventh round than C.J. Stroud in the fourth, Anthony Richardson and Joe Burrow in the fifth, or Dak Prescott and Kyler Murray in the sixth. He projects similarly to Stroud, Burrow, and Prescott as pass-first QBs in fun offenses, and is more reliable than wild cards like Richardson and Murray. Love feels like the last safe quarterback draft option this year — after him, we venture into more question-mark-laden territory with guys like Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams. It is possible that Love’s price rises over the course of the summer, but at his current price, he is a dream quarterback for any fantasy team.
The Bottom Line
- Love is coming off an excellent 2023 season where he finished as the overall QB5 in fantasy while leading the Packers to a playoff victory, yet is only being taken as the QB10 in drafts this year.
- Love is surrounded by an exciting supporting cast full of young and dynamic wide receivers. The Packers also made improvements to their run game and offensive line, and have an elite head coach in Matt LaFleur calling plays.
- Love has an enticing combination of floor and ceiling for fantasy football. His floor is quite high because of his passing volume and rushing baseline, and if the Packers offense clicks, Love could be in the conversation for the MVP trophy.
- I prefer Love to several of the quarterbacks going above him in fantasy drafts, and am aggressively drafting him at his current ADP in the seventh round as QB10 according to our multi-site ADP tool.
