I left Kimani Vidal off my 53-man roster projection after Week 1 of the preseason. My grade at that stage was “incomplete.” He had missed a week of practice, including the joint session with the Rams, before not playing in the preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks. You have to earn your spot in the NFL, and that will especially be the case under Harbaugh. Vidal had a strong week of practice last week. He followed that up with a solid performance in his first game action. I have moved him ahead of Isaiah Spiller and onto the 53-man in my running projection.

If you remember, we reported on this a few weeks ago when this writer left Vidal off the team's 53-man roster. Vidal was at least a popular dynasty selection up to this point, given the Chargers state at RB. However, Vidal looks to be making a move up the depth chart with solid, recent practices and preseason game showing. Edwards and Dobbins appear to be leading the way at the position with Patterson also having a nice camp. Vidal looks like he still has a lot of work to do to at least be the team's RB3.

Jaret Patterson has impressed the coaching staff, and he appears to have grasped the RB3 role right now.

Much like they did in Baltimore, Edwards and Dobbins will look to form the 1-2 punch. While Patterson seems to be in the lead for the RB3 role, the author of this story seems to think rookie sixth rounder Vidal could be left off the roster. He said of the four backs competing behind Edwards and Dobbins, Patterson has gotten the most reps with the first team in practice. He was also the first running back in the game Saturday, ahead of both Spiller and Dotson. The story went on to say Vidal was in uniform for warmups but did not dress for the game. Vidal has also been dealing with an injury and missed four full days of practice earlier this month, according to the story, including the joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams. The author ended by saying this competition is still wide open and things could change by the end of camp.

The WFT has activated RB Antonio Gibson from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Gibson is expected to miss Week 17 unless he somehow tests negative Saturday and Sunday.

J.D McKissic is on IR. That means he misses at least three of last four games.

McKissic is dealing with a concussion. He'll have a chance to return for Week 18, which could be a meaningful game assuming Washington can remain in the playoff hunt - or it could be a meaningless game in which they don't risk McKissic's return. Williams and Patterson should see time behind Gibson going forward.

WFT HC Ron Rivera was asked if RB Jaret Patterson would fulfill the J.D. McKissic passing role with J.D. out, but chose to pivot to Wendell Smallwood regarding that role.

Smallwood will come back from the fantasy grave to potentially much up the WFT backfield. Just don't cut into Antonio Gibson's role, please.

WFT RB J.D. McKissic (concussion) will not play Week 13 in Las Vegas, while WR Curtis Samuel (groin) and TE Ricky Seal-Jones (hip) are questionable.

Considering the injury, it is good to see McKissic only has a concussion. Samuel will be needed in a game that could require a lot of points to win. RSJ is just a back-up Week 13 with Logan Thomas healthy.

McKissic's injury looked much worse Monday night. Hopefully the back heals sooner than later.

The Washington Football Team has released RB Peyton Barber, source said. A bit of a surprise.

Those in the dynasty world of fantasy football probably aren't surprised, though. The team will now likely keep undrafted free agent Patterson as the result of Barber's release. There was all kinds of positive feedback on Patterson's camp this season, and he looked good in preseason games on top of that. He now looks to be in a possible RB3 role and backup to Gibson while McKissic is the change of pace and pass-catching option.

Kyle Allen says Washington is trying to push Antonio Gibson into a similar role as Christian McCaffrey played in Carolina.

That's a big role, as the tweet went on to say. But Rivera would know the role well, coming from Carolina. He's compared Gibson to McCaffrey in the past so it may not be a big surprise. But as we learned last year, McKissic is very nice pass catching back who could ease some of that workload, and undrafted free agent Patterson has looked good as well. He was recently compared to Darren Sproles. But this is certainly good news for Gibson and his potential workload.
