Fantasy Football Week 14 Injury Report: Raiders of the Lost Season
Aidan O'Connell, QB Las Vegas Raiders
Injury: Left Leg/Knee
Projected Timetable: Season-Ending
Initial Thoughts:
It is still unclear what exactly happened with O'Connell, but he required an aircast and was carted off of the field, indicating a likely fracture. His season is over and the team will likely turn back to Desmond Ridder.
Will Levis, QB Tennessee Titans
Injury: Right AC Sprain, reinjury
Projected Timetable: Week 15-17
Initial Thoughts:
While he was able to return to the game for the second half, he did not appear to be close to 100% and struggled to generate velocity in his throws. This is a reinjury of his prior AC sprain earlier in the season, so it will not surprise me if he winds up being out for a few weeks. Hopefully, we get more information soon.
Justin Herbert, QB Los Angeles Chargers
Injury: Left Knee, Ankle
Projected Timetable: Week 15
Initial Thoughts:
Initially Herbert appeared to have suffered a simple contusion, but he also suffered a mild high ankle sprain mechanism later on in the game. Do not be surprised if he pops up on the injury report, but as of right now I am anticipating him to play through it.
Derek Carr, QB New Orleans Saints
Injury: Left Hand/Wrist Fracture
Projected Timetable: Season-Ending
Initial Thoughts:
Per early reports, Carr has suffered a left-hand fracture that will end his season. The Saints will likely turn it over to Jake Haener. It is still unclear if Chris Olave will be returning after he meets with a neurospecialist, so Haener will be lacking weapons.
Jonathon Brooks, RB Carolina Panthers
Injury: Right Knee
Projected Timetable: TBD
Initial Thoughts:
I truly hope this is not what I think it is, but there is certainly concern about his non-contact injury to his right knee, especially since he had previously torn his right ACL in college just over a year ago. Best case scenario, maybe he just tore a meniscus that will need to be repaired or debrided. Worst case, he will require an ACL revision and will likely have a repeated lengthy recovery in preparation for the 2025 season. Monitor for news and hope for the best.
Isaac Guerendo, RB San Francisco 49ers
Injury: Foot Sprain
Projected Timetable: Week 15-17
Initial Thoughts:
First step, X-rays came back negative per early reports. Guerendo is not out of the woods yet, as he is set to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of his foot sprain. Worst case, this winds up being a Lisfranc sprain, which could require 1-2 weeks if mild or lead to 4-6 weeks if higher grade. He was spotted in the locker room putting his socks and shoes on as normal without a CAM boot, which is good news for avoiding worst-case scenario. The short-term bad news is that the 49ers play on Thursday night, so there is real concern here that the 49ers will be down to Patrick Taylor Jr, Keshawn Vaughn, and Israel Abanikanda as their lead-backs against the Rams.
Breece Hall, RB New York Jets
Injury: Left Knee Hyperextension, MCL
Projected Timetable: Week 15-16
Initial Thoughts:
The good news is that the Jets do not plan on shutting him down for the season and it does not sound like a major injury. There is likely a chance he can play in week 15, but typically these require closer to two weeks. Monitor his practice status, but make plans to be without him for at least one more week.
George Pickens, WR Pittsburgh Steelers
Injury: Hamstring Strain
Projected Timetable: Week 15-16
Initial Thoughts:
Pickens suffered a hamstring strain on Friday that led to a downgrade in practice and Out status for week 14. Soft tissue injuries late in the week have led to an average of two games missed despite teams stating that the injury is minor. Monitor his practice status, but have a plan for if he also misses week 15.
Ladd McConkey, WR Los Angeles Chargers
Injury: Knee, AC Sprain
Projected Timetable: Week 15-16
Initial Thoughts:
Notably, the media has reported the injury as not a long-term issue. He missed week 14, but it sounds like there is a good chance for him to return for week 15. Monitor his practice status for this coming week.
Puka Nacua, WR Los Angeles Rams
Injury: Right Calf
Projected Timetable: Week 15
Initial Thoughts:
After being spotted on the bench with a heating pad wrapped around his right calf, he returned to the game and played very well. This one goes down simply as a "monitor" situation since the Rams play on Thursday night, but I do anticipate him playing without issue.
Will Dissly, TE Los Angeles Chargers
Injury: Right AC, Shoulder
Projected Timetable: Week 15-16
Initial Thoughts:
Dissly was deemed questionable to return but has not returned to the game after suffering a right shoulder injury on the last play just before halftime. It looked like he fell to the ground with his arm outstretched, which could be more of a labral injury than an AC sprain. Hopefully, we get more news, but he could miss time.
